The handpan emerged in the early 2000s, fusing ideas from the Trinidadian steel pan, Indian ghatam, and other resonant percussion traditions. The result was something the world had never heard before - a UFO-shaped instrument played with the hands that produces hauntingly beautiful, bell-like tones that seem to hang in the air.
Each handpan is hand-hammered and tuned to a specific scale, making every instrument unique.
