Children and adults alike love African drumming! These workshops are fun, inclusive, and energizing. Students learn playing techniques, pulse, tempo, improvisation skills, and authentic rhythms from West African traditions.

Blake brings extensive experience as a tutor for Norfolk Music Hub, delivering high-quality African drumming education. Workshops are suitable for all ages and abilities, with all drums and percussion instruments provided.

Sessions develop listening skills, coordination, teamwork, and cultural awareness while creating an immediate sense of achievement and joy through group music-making.

Blake delivers engaging workshops for schools that develop a wide range of musical skills through fun activities and games. Students learn about pulse, rhythm, tempo, pitch, timbre, dynamics, and musical form.

Workshops incorporate singing, movement, body percussion, ball play, games, and both pitched and unpitched instruments. Body percussion activities are particularly popular - a cross-brain activity with amazingly positive effects that gets participants moving while creating beats and rhythms using clapping, stomping, and vocal sounds.

Sessions are tailored to age and ability levels, from introductory experiences for young children to more advanced work with older students.

Music-based wellbeing and team-building activities help schools develop positive group dynamics, improve communication, and support student mental health. These sessions use collaborative music-making to foster cooperation, trust, and confidence.

Activities might include group drumming circles, singing (unison, parts, and rounds with breathing techniques), body percussion choreography, or collaborative composition projects. The sessions are inclusive, accessible, and adapted to group needs.
